This social story describes what the experience of therapy can be like and what you can expect to see when you come to therapy. It can help to reduce any feelings of overwhelm by preparing you beforehand.

A play therapist is someone who plays with kids to work through their thoughts and feelings.

My adults may take me to see a play therapist.

Ren is the play therapist I will see.

The play therapist usually has an office. This is what the building of Ren’s office looks like.

I will go up the elevator and come to a door that looks like this. Ren shares this office with other people who care for people.

This is the room where I will go to therapy. Sometimes my parents may see the play therapist with me. Sometimes I may see the play therapist by myself.

There are all sorts of things for me to play with in this room.

I can bring out a table to do art with Ren or by myself.
